Who is On Your Health Care Team?

Who is On Your Health Care Team?

This is not about bashing primary care doctors, but it is to let people become aware of the many types of health care professionals that can be helpful to have relationships with. In many cases, primary care doctors make decisions based on the direction of insurance companies and drug companies. There are many other alternative and highly effective health care practioners that might be able to help you find relief from pain or illness. Keep in mind, this is so that you can be educated, not to give you medical advice. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of these practitioners and how they operate as health care providers.
Chiropractors. Finding a local chiropractor long before you feel you need one is critical. These doctors are trained in structural abnormalities such as spinal misalignment which can play a huge role in the disease process due to restrictions in nerve pathways. It is a good idea to have a checkup from a local chiroractor and even see one periodically to keep your body in line.
Naturopathic Doctors. Naturopaths take a whole person approach to health care and look for root cuases of illness. Often, they can treat patients with non-drug and non-invasive protocols, although they can and do prescribe medicine when needed. Sadly, not all states recognize naturopathic doctors.

If someone has a difficult to diagnose illness , I would recommend that they add a naturopath to their medical team.
Holistic Dentist. Perhaps you have never heard this term , but holistic dentists (also known as biological dentists) treat dental patients with non-toxic dental compounds and also can help to find correlations between disease and deficiencies within the oral structure. It make sense given that the mouth is the entrance to the body, right? Another area that holistic dentists help with is the removal of mercury fillings formerly used in dental work as these metals have been links to disease processes including multiple sclerosis.

Therapist / Counselor. Many people fail to realize how significant of a role stress and the emotions play on their health. If you have experienced a life changing event or are in the middle of one, this can effect how you see life and your future. A therapist or professional counselor might be able to help you process whatever it is that you are going through and even help point you to the medical resources that might help you get through a tough season.

Accupuncturist. Whether or not you beleive in them, there are a growing number of testimonials of people who have had amazing healing events take place as their bodies were “realigned” through accupuncture. These include stories of infertility, chronic pain, anxiety, and the list goes on . Afraid of needles? Don’t worry they are very fine needles (always sterile), and can hardly be felt.

I hope that has given you some insight on how non traditional heath providers can play a role in your overall well being. I wish you the best in health! For more on getting your Health with Shilajit? click here
